Roronoa Zoro is the first member of the Straw Hat Pirates, usually the first member indirectly to become Deputy Captain. He created his own fighting style namely Santoryuu (3 swords). Zoro grew up in a Dojo of Shimotsuki Village in East Blue.

Zoro really respects Luffy because of his determination as a Captain. Zoro is Luffy's best friend and understands Luffy the most (during the events of Usopp and Aokiji) and Robin is a person who never mocked him or beat him and respected him the most.
Early Story
Little Zoro is a student of Kuina's father's Dojo, Koushiro.

This dojo is in Shimotsuki Village in East Blue. Zoro wielded two swords when he was a child, and was so trained he could even beat an adult The only person Zoro can't beat is Kuina, the teacher's daughter. Zoro was defeated by Kuina up to 2000 times (Wikia), until in the end Zoro challenged Kuina to a real sword fight. Zoro then lost again and cried.

After that Kuina told Zoro that in the end it was women who would be weak when they became adults, one day she would be defeated by Zoro. Then Zoro again said to Kuina that he shouldn't talk like that and promised to keep on fighting until who of the two of them became the strongest swordsman.

The next morning, Kuina died because she fell from the stairs of her house. Zoro was angry and thought that Kuina wanted to break the agreement. In the end, Zoro cried while asking for Kuina's sword and promised to carry on his dream.

Kuina's sword is the one in her mouth, Wadou Ichimonji, including the 21 sharpest swords in the world.

Zoro is a swordsman, therefore for Zoro the sword is his treasure, an invaluable treasure. The swords used by Zoro are as follows:

Initially, Zoro was on the hunt list for 60 million Berry because he had defeated Dazz Bones, the great killer and 100 bounty hunters on the cactus island Whiskey Peak. After the incident at Enies Lobby, Zoro's bounty increased drastically to 120 million Berry.
